From construction to conveyors
and beyond

It is interesting to see how, from an almost exclusively construction-industry-oriented company, BIC Electric has become a conveyor systems installation powerhouse, providing their services from their HQ in Szczecin, Poland across the entire Western European market.

Micro and macro development

This natural progression from construction into industry coincided with the development of the competences and skills of our own staff on an individual level. Our Key Account Engineer, Paweł Boj, is an excellent example of that: - At BIC I started out as a regular technician pulling cables and installing power supply, lighting and alarm systems. Thanks to my education in electronics, I soon got the chance to work on the more challenging automation projects. The people I have worked with along the way are now members of a strong team that confidently tackles more and more demanding projects. As Key Account Engineer, I am proud to be in the position to enable them to develop their skills further by planning the projects for our customers. However, sometimes I miss the real nitty-gritty of on-site work, so I go along with the BIC technicians to do some “field work” as often as I can.

From Audi to Volvo, from airports to sorters

BIC’s first projects in the automation industry were done together with Crisplant/Beumer Group and Lödige Systems, primarily installing conveyor lines for the sorting and manufacturing systems for the postal and automotive industries. Since then, we have been working on systems for other industrial sectors: food production, pharmaceuticals, meat processing, dairies, grain handling, luggage handling and many more. Automotive is one of the key areas for BIC, and global behemoths like VW, Audi, Volvo, BMW and Porsche are now using the lines with our signature on them. We have also managed to put our stamp on conveyor lines used by other well-known giants like Danish Crown, Sports Direct, Zara, Proctor & Gamble, Dr Oetker, Arla, Lego, or TNT plus numerous airports and postal sorting systems all around the world.

The synergy between BIC and our European customers is very natural. They concentrate on their core competences in machinery manufacturing while BIC supplies the right installation resources on-site. By cooperating, both they and we get the chance to create more value for everybody, regardless of the project location: on the immediate European market and more exotic locations like South Africa or Hong Kong alike. The benefits, both for our partners and for us, would have been harder or impossible to achieve, if we worked separately.
Together we can do more!

In 2017 Q1, industry and automation was 80% of BIC’s turnover – we regularly do projects involving assembly, installation and commissioning of a variety of automated internal logistics systems. We believe that this business will continue to grow in the future. In addition to the projects we have already done, and are still doing for SFK Leblanc (now part of Frontmatec), SKAKO, SAAP Engineering, ATS, Imtech, CIMBRIA or Haas-Meincke, where we have perfected our competences, we have new projects for Equinox, Eurosort and LINDLARSEN coming into our pipeline in the near future. We also have many similar companies in our project pipeline, both multinationals and rapidly growing smaller companies, and we are eager to turn these hot leads into customers who get measurable added value from the collaboration with BIC Electric.

We have the resources to make it reality: among our 150 technicians, more than 100 have experience with assembly and installation of automation systems, still do it on a regular basis and further develop their skills.
