BIC's 2018 in numbers

It was a good year for BIC. There was a lot going on:

 Professionalism in intralogistics

Electrical installation of motors, sensors, components, communication buses, power supply, mechanical assembly of machinery etc... These were the focus of the few projects which BIC has recently finalized for KNAPP AG, an Austrian company providing intelligent automation solutions to manufacturing and distribution industries, from design to installation, maintenance and upgrades.

Markus Hofer, KNAPP’s Director of Installation and Startup, says this about the cooperation with BIC:

We are very satisfied with the common language we were able to find with BIC Electric. Our organization is highly impressed with BIC Electric’s level of professionalism.

BIC Electric in West Africa - our journey begins

We believe that we can - and should - contribute to a better life of West African professionals and their families. Our goal is to transfer our technical skills and values to new colleagues from Ghana and Nigeria, help them learn European standards of work and transform the potential available in Africa into sustainable jobs.
To achieve that, we are setting our first footprints in Africa: we have opened a BIC office in Ghana and we are starting our long-term educational plan for BIC specialists – the first African technicians are coming to Szczecin in Q2 of 2019. This should enable BIC Electric West Africa us to handle first projects already this year. Apart from that, we have also started cooperation with Ghana Greentech Academy, read below. Our vision is fully supported by the Royal Danish Embassy, Consulate of Denmark, and Danish State. We are very grateful for their help!

Søren Robenhagen - Commercial Attaché, Royal Danish Embassy, Accra, Ghana
The project touches upon some very important issues in Ghana and West Africa, namely job creation, knowledge transfer and creating economic growth but also at the same time exploring the many opportunities that lies in the Sub-Saharan Africa. With the dedication that BIC has shown I’m confident that BIC will succeed.
Per Christensen – Consul General, Royal Danish Consulate, Lagos, Nigeria
There are many well-educated specialists here, but this part of the world is still a place where 75% of the population does not get a proper education. It is, therefore, very important to create new possibilities to educate young people and to create sustainable jobs in Africa.  I fully support BIC’s fantastic project and I’m very excited about it.

In January, the technical equipment donated by BIC (we wrote about it in a previous newsletter) landed in Africa. It is support for Ghana Greentech Academy - a vocational technical school, located near the rocky outcrops of the Mim mountains in Ghana. After a successful Academy reopening (read more here - it is fascinating!), the students were informed about setting up of BIC’s exchange program for the top-performing graduates, who will have the opportunity to train their skills in Europe (Denmark & Poland) later this year.
